I realize the new system is being designed to thwart DDoS attacks with the 'multiple location' network, however I found this service, DDoS Sheild (http://www.ddosprotection.com), very appealing:
"By placing your web site behind our DDoS Shield, you are effectively putting a stop to denial of service attacks [...]. With connections to numerous Tier-1 internet providers, our network can withstand attacks ranging to multiple gigabits in size."
"We also trace the source of attack and report the crime."
"Simply make a few easy changes to your web site's DNS records and we will take care of the rest."
Re: DDoS Protection
I was searching Google for things that could prevent DDoS and I found:

Re: DDoS Protection
I emailed them about our questions (how strong it is, cost) and I'll post their response here if they don't (I linked to this discussion).
Re: DDoS Protection
I think these services tend to be quite expensive. And according to some experts the attack that brought down Blue Security was so huge that it would have incapacitated Google. Defending against that kind of attack would require some extremely expensive protection.
Re: DDoS Protection
Wow! Not sure I believe them completely, though.
Re: DDoS Protection
It remains to be seen but I understand that the spammers are so powerful that they could take down Google if they wanted. Yet I still think Blue Security had the best system up till the time of the ddos attack and that it could be improved upon for the new system. Once again we may be able to give the spammers a message just as we did with Blue Frog. Hang in there and lets not give up. We can prevail. We must not be satisfied with just filtering. We must be able to reach right back to the spammers or their advertised sites. Sting them at the source. They do not deserve to remain in power.
