Is " Okopipi " Actually Doing Anything.??

Like most of you's ...

We all came here because we thought "Okopipi" was gonna take over where "Blue-Frog" GAVE UP.!!
I subscribed to this site for more information & help in REDUCING my "Daily Spam Intake" for a better healthier lifestyle, like FAT in your diet, everything in moderation or under control.!! - Is my Spam under control ... NO.!

So far, in my 5 weeks here, I read most replies with idea's here & there, completely openly to be viewed "Maybe" by the spammers themselves 'inside' our forum hide-away on how we can beat this thing once & for all ...
You know they can read this don't ya.! - So anything we come up with 'might be' countered hey.?

I know it takes time to create a custom-script in whatever code U wish to compile your program in ... But I don't see any 'Updates' on the progress of this even happening.? - That's why I'm asking if " Okopipi " is actually doing anying.? - All I'm seeing or reading is "TidBits" & some good idea's, but no actual CURE.!! - Fair enough, BlueSecurity/BlueFrog actually worked for awhile, & I'm really disappointed they folded, but is "Okopipi" gonna give ANY updates on their progress.?
- Seriously.! - Are They.?

So in the meantime, many of us are accumulating a 'minimum' of 50-80 e'mails a day, & continue to get bombarded with crap-emails we can't do anything about.? - Isn't it time 'something' happened in getting something off the ground.?

So again in the meantime, I think I have finally found something that 'might' actually work.?
I don't know how I came across this program/service, but I am seriously thinking about joining.!

    I'm still gonna stick by "Okopipi" & see if they come up with anything, but while I'm waiting, I still get hit with 100+ emails a day, & like most of you's, I'm getting FED-UP.! - I've had ENOUGH of this Spam, Haven't YOU.?

Hey people, let me just clearly state one thing here:
I am absolutely convinced that there will be human beings living on the Mars before this project is going to show any remarkable results.

Why?
1) This whole thing seems to have been started by a couple of hobby surfers who do not know anything about OpenSource coding (including myself who "got involved" by subscribing as a future translator).
2) You need either a lot of passion and ambition and visions or a lot of money or both (in the best case) to let such a project become anything more than a few ideas on a paper.

And I do not see anything of that here... :(

Blue Frog took five years before it was available for download, according to web.archive.org.

Does anybody knows something about the current status ? Is everybody gone on holiday, is the project on track or has it been cancelled ...
To hear nothing over a certain time doesn't give me faith that everything's fine.

* A simple "We're rolling guys, a few hic-ups, but we're OK, should be finalized in aprox. 3-months time.!!" ...

I just read the .pdf If I can throw my one thought in it would be to go with option 2 for the database. My fear is that using option 1 will eventoully end up like blue frog a denial of service attack against that server by the spammers or something worse. Option 2 seems the best way to create a truly P2P system that if big enough could really make a huge impact worldwide on spamm. I too feel that Okipipi has stalled. I don't post, I just lurk. So far Okipipi is Blue Frog in its deaththroes.

Maybe instead of moaning and whining like a child you should have helped them fix and perfect the script codes, but probably you wouldn't even have known the slightest thing to do would you? Please, do leave Okopipi, there is no use for people like you, and good luck getting the advertised service for "$6" dollars a month when here people will get it if not better for free

My two cents

I read his post I don't really think he is moaning or crying I believe he is asking for an update to the status of the project which I believe is fair since thats what we are all here for. I hate to say this but I hope the developers are not some of the people who post here because I see more flaming and attacking each other on here than anything productive. Everytime I read someone attacking someone here I tell myself thats why the spammers are winning they are organized and we fight amongst ourselves. There are some here who post good ideas and good questions. I have even posted some alternatives like spamitback until Okopipi gets on it's feet. But I do not see anything wrong with asking for a status. We don't want the developers to give up the ghost just maybe a update like were only ten percent done and we expect a beta in November something like that. Just something to let people know there is still people working on it and this isn't just an empty forum for people to flame each other. Anyways I'm sure someone will take offense to this post and flame me for saying something they don't like and maybe I will even get a link to some cute no cry shampoo bottle as well. Thats fine I'll just consider the source and move on. If there is no updates to the status it will just make people like me less and less active on the forum (sorry it's just a fact) so I'm off to check out the spamitback forum where I am a Colonel in the ranking my handle there is streeter. Good luck Okopipi I hope you surround yourselves with like minded people who can work together I look forward to using your product if it ever materializes.

Thanks by the way ... I was after an 'update' as to what's going on, so that's why I posted.!

Been reading some of your stuff, I liked it & now U got me interested with your thoughts & suggestions.! - I actually did download that 'SpamItBack' software. I tried it for awhile, not quite what I'm after but hey, I gave it a go.! - I already joined up to that 'SpamGourment' awhile a go and it didn't really impress me much, so I gave up on that too.! - I do scour the Net for info on reducing Spam & only as a last resort, I'm now doing 'SpamArrest' because I have had enough & I wanted something done.! - So far, Zero-Spam, & that's great.!

I'm still behind ' Okopipi ' ... Just not knowing what's going on is just weird.?
When we or all of us discovered 'BlueFrog', it's like, "FINALLY something that works.!!"
Then coming here to Okopipi, & maybe this is my fault, had 'high expectations' that didn't quite live upto what I thought it was.? - I now realize it's a 'Work-In-Progress', so we'll see what happens as time goes on.! - Just not knowing any updates like U said for eg: "maybe a update like were only ten percent done and we expect a beta in November" which is prefect in knowing how far we are in this project.! - So until this happens, we'll all be wondering if anything is actually being done.?

An update of sorts

Last night I went into the MIRC channel for Okopipi to see if I could find out more of what is going on. Keep in mind it was very late at night (My time) even later with the one person awake in the channel (4AM) so this may not be a great update.

There was about ten nicks in the channel (At the time I was there) I talked with one person just as he was going to bed. From what I gather ( I could be completly wrong on this) I got the impression what has been done is a .pdf was written to show the design of the P2P network they want to create. I was also told this was only the first half that needs to be written.

So with that said I'm not sure anyone is writeing any code as of yet. I think they are still in the development stage and still looking at ideas. I guess there is a flyer you can subscribe to to get news on the subject. I think you might have to give out your e-mail address to get it I haven't done so as of yet.

Anyways the impression I get is this is going to be very very slow going. They are trying to create something that has never been done. If it works well it will be known around the world quickly. So since it is free I can't get upset at the speed of the work. I just wish I could program so I could help.

Maybe what we need to do is scour the web for other open source projects web sites and try to enlist programmers to the project? Evertime I search for fight spam in google I find people all over trying diffrent things maybe we all need to go on a big recruiting march for talent for the project and maybe it will grow legs faster? Just another thought as I ramble on. Take care all.
